In the afternoon of June 16, a teaching salon was successfully held in the College of Art on the theme of "Thinking and Path of Teaching and Research Collaboration Mechanism in the Background of New Liberal Arts". Professor Wang Chong from Guilin University of Electronic Science and Technology was invited to our college for exchange and discussion. Director Wang Qian from the Academic Affairs Office, Dean Han Rong from the College of Art and more than 40 professional teachers, attended this event.
Before the lecture began, Director Wang Qian expressed a warm welcome to Professor Wang Chong's arrival. He hoped that this teaching salon would open up new ideas for the improvement of teaching and research collaboration mechanism under the background of new liberal arts in our university. After that, Prof. Wang Chong showed the teachers his work history and achievements in recent years, and encouraged them to keep the spirit of striving for excellence in both life and teaching work. Professor Wang Chong suggested that universities should implement specific incentives from four dimensions: discipline construction, professional layout, curriculum design and talent cultivation to encourage teachers to make achievements in academic research and shine in professions that are urgently needed by the country. Secondly, Prof. Wang Chong proposed the core elements that an excellent curriculum design should have in terms of practical courses, course numbers, course participation, course participation forms, course grade distribution, and assessment system. At the same time, he discusses with wrong counterexamples that hot concepts and new concepts should be used carefully in the course design process. He repeatedly emphasized that the teaching task is not academic research and should not follow hot topics blindly but should have systematic results before teaching. Finally, Prof. Wang Chong expressed the difficulties and hardships of building a first-class curriculum from discipline distribution. At the same time, he quoted the words of Wu Yan, the director of the Ministry of Education, to encourage all teachers to be dedicated to teaching and educating people, do a good job in their vocation, and do a good job in their conscience.
After the lecture, our teachers also had an in-depth exchange with Prof. Wang Chong, and all of them said that Prof. Wang Chong's lecture was full of useful information, and they would benefit a lot in their future teaching and research work.
