On March 29, 2024, the Expert Seminar for Jiangsu Universities and Colleges in the 5th Oriental Creative Star Competition was successfully held in the Second Lecture Hall of the Conference Center at Jiangsu University. Yang Daojian, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jiangsu University, and Wang Ju, Secretary-General of the Organizing Committee of the Oriental Creative Star Design Competition, attended the meeting. Presidents, professors, and experts from the art and design departments of 36 universities and colleges in Jiangsu gathered to discuss the ideas and practices of design education, sharing their experiences and achievements in talent cultivation, project practice, and discipline competitions. The meeting was hosted by Sha Chunfa, deputy dean of the Art School of Jiangsu University.
At the beginning of the meeting, Yang Daojian, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Jiangsu University, delivered a speech on behalf of the university. Vice President Yang introduced the development history and disciplinary characteristics of Jiangsu University. He hoped that through this seminar, Jiangsu University could establish closer cooperation with experts and professors to jointly contribute wisdom and strength to the development of creative design, education, and teaching.
Han Rong, dean of the Art School of Jiangsu University, introduced the successful hosting of the 2023 4th Oriental Creative Star Design Competition (Educational Innovation Competition) at Jiangsu University and the status of discipline competitions in the Art School. Secretary-General Wang Ju introduced the overall planning of the competition, including past achievements, expert team building, and other related plans.
Secretary-General Wang Ju presented the hosting authorization for the 5th Oriental Creative Star Competition to Han Rong, dean of the Art School of Jiangsu University, and Chen Mingjun, vice president of Jingjiang College. After the ceremony, the attending leaders and experts took a group photo for commemoration.
During the expert speech session, Associate Professor Dong Tiantian from Southeast University shared her experience in the teaching innovation competition with the theme of "Multidimensional Focus and Innovation," showcasing achievements in teaching, research papers, and works.
Associate Professor Li Xiao from Jiangsu University shared his insights on the theme of "Teaching Methods and Practices in Multidisciplinary Integration Design Courses," emphasizing that the key to teaching is understanding the curriculum, learning from others' strengths, reinforcing professional knowledge, participating in design competitions, and focusing on planning.
Finally, the participating leaders and experts visited the Jiangsu University History Museum to gain a deeper understanding of the university's history, culture, and spirit, experiencing its profound academic heritage and unique educational style.
The seminar aimed to strengthen exchanges and cooperation among universities and colleges, promote high-quality education development, and cultivate more outstanding art and design talents. The Art School of Jiangsu University will continue its in-depth cooperation with the Oriental Creative Star Design Competition, jointly creating a service and exchange platform featuring "competition results + academic achievements + intellectual fruits," rooted in deep cultural contexts and the multiplicative effect of creative design transformation. Based on "high-cognitive empathy communication," the school strives to achieve cooperation, mutual benefit, and win-win progress among the competition, universities, and society.
