On June 16, the School of Art held an academic exchange activity in the 1302 Smart Room. Professor Ren Wendong from Dalian Polytechnic University was invited to give a lecture. The theme of the lecture was "Art Design Education Paradigm for the Era of Artificial Intelligence". Yancheng Institute of Technology, Jiangsu Ocean University teachers and students, professional teachers of art College, student representatives participated in this activity. The event was hosted by Han Rong, dean of the School of Art.

First of all, Professor Ren Wendong believes that the current era is an important historical period of the rapid development of global science, technology, culture and art, and also a golden age of breakthrough achievements in the development of art design. Today's design is faced with a new era of multiple crossover, integration of fields, opportunities and challenges. It is of great importance and practical significance to explore new concepts of design and design education and study new paradigms for the development of future design disciplines.

Secondly, Professor Ren Wendong, standing at the height of future design development, has made a series of analysis and explanation for the training of designers and design talents in the "AI era". Professor Ren Wendong clearly positioned design from the macro and overall aspects, from the party's policies and the adjustment of disciplinary catalogs, and quoted the famous saying of Herbert Alexander Simon, winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics, "Design is a series of behaviors that guide the existing situation to a better direction" to illustrate his views on design. Then, Professor Ren Wendong cited the importance of cross-border designers through cases, emphasizing the combination of art and science and technology. Professor Ren Wendong said that the design of the future will definitely lead people's lives, advanced materials, AI painting, meta-universe, digital age, etc., which put forward new requirements for design talents.

Professor Ren Wendong proposed that in the face of the future design revolution, we need to be more confident in culture than any other historical period, work hard to tell Chinese stories, and take on cultural inheritance and innovation. To promote Chinese culture to the world, young people should better grasp the opportunities and challenges. In the interactive session, Professor Ren Wendong answered the questions raised by teachers and students, and further emphasized that design educators and practitioners should dare to change and innovate, and should not stand still and lie flat academically, but should run to seize opportunities.
