Liu Jianing, born in 1963 in Dacheng, Hebei province, earned his B.A from Art Department of Hebei Normal University. Now he is a M.Phil supervisor with the School of Arts. He is also member of the Chinese Artists Association. In 1990, his Chinese painting ‘Nada’m Impression’ was exhibited in the 2nd Sports Art exhibition. In 1991, his Chinese painting ‘A Tale in the Winter’ was awarded the Bronze Prize of ‘The Four Chinese Seasons’ art works exhibition hosted by the Chinese Artists Association and the Japanese Kyodo News. This work was collected by the Japan Anbu Peony Garden Museum of Fine Arts .In 1991, his Chinese painting ‘The Moment of Eternity’ was selected by the ‘National Exhibition of Personal Portraits’, sponsored by the Chinese Painting Research Institute. In the same year, his Chinese painting ‘Spring Follows Winter’ got the silver prize in the first Canadian-sponsored International ‘Maple Leaf Award’ Ink Art Exhibition. This painting later was collected by the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Oversea Association of Canada. In 1992, his Chinese painting ‘Pace of the Dawn’ was selected by the national art exhibition to mark the 50th anniversary of the ‘5.23 Speech’. In 1994, his Chinese painting ‘On Transit’, ‘White Clouds over the Ridge’, ‘Green Reverie’ and ‘Tree of Life’ etc. were qualified to participate in the ‘Modern Chinese Painting Exhibition’ hosted by the Chinese Artists Association in Japan and were all collected. In the same year, his Chinese painting ‘Landscape’ was rated as the outstanding works in the Eighth National Art Exhibition. In 1996, ‘Landscape’, as an outstanding work in the eighth national art exhibition, was selected by the ‘Modern Chinese Art Exhibition’ held in the Japanese National Museum of Art, Art Museum of Nagasaki Prefecture, Fukuoka City Art Museum and JTF China-Japan Friendship Club. In1999, his Chinese painting’ Millions Hero Crossing Changjiang River’ got the ‘Stars Award’ bronze medal awarded by the ministry of culture. In the same year, his ‘Looking to the East’ was chosen for the Ninth National Art Exhibition, and he was ranked among ‘100 Outstanding College Graduates in Hebei Province in the First Two Decades of Reform and Opening to the Outside World’. In 2001, he was honored as ‘Excellent Teacher in Hebei Province’. From 1987 to 2002, for his art works he has won 1 provincial special prize, 6 first prizes, and 3 second prizes. The municipal government has granted him ‘Award for Art Prosperity’ five times. His works has been featured in the journals ‘ Art Design’, ‘Observation of Arts’, ‘Arts’, ‘New Ink and Wash’, ‘Appreciation of Chinese Painting’, ‘Contemporary Artists’, and ‘Century Ink and Wash’. He has published two collections of his own paintings.
