Main achievements


Steve received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design from the Philadelphia College of Art, Master of the Arts, and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Syracuse University. He taught Landscape Architecture for 19 years at the Ohio State University, Department of Landscape Architecture and was a partner in the international award-winning landscape architecture firm of First Avenue Design. Steve taught at the University of Idaho as Chair and Professor for 23 years and co-established the University of Idaho Building Sustainable Communities Initiative and established and directed the University of Idaho Landscape Architecture Summer Study Abroad Program in Italy for 19 years. Additionally, he created and directed the University of Idaho Master of Landscape Architecture and Bioregional Planning degree programs and served as a University of Idaho Extension Educator creating the interdisciplinary Landscape Architecture Rapid Response Design Team community outreach program. Steve is an international lecturer having given university lectures in Italy, Central America, Korea and China for the last eight years and taught extended landscape architecture workshops at several Chinese universities.
